ASABA—No fewer than 111 oil bearing communities in Oil Mining Lease, OML, 30, Delta State, have urged the management of Heritage Energy Operational Services Limited,  HEOSL, to expedite action in drawing up a new Global Memorandum of Understanding, GMoU, to demonstrate its commitment to a fresh start in the oil block.

They also told the company to commence the process of payment of all outstanding scholarships and collection of forms for new scholarships.

At a number of Town Hall meetings between the company and representatives of cluster communities held at Effurun, Ughelli and Oleh, Uvwie, Ughelli North and Isoko South Local Government Areas of the state, the communities stressed the need for the company to base the GMoU on the Chevron model.

The Town Hall meetings  were put in place by the company to discuss conditions for the commencement of fresh operations in the OML 30.

The communiqué at  the end of the meetings, read  “Strong mechanisms should be put in place to ensure the employment and engagement of indigenes into management positions in the company.”

“HEOSL should as a matter of principle commence the engagement of competent and qualified community contractors outside grass cutting and housekeeping jobs.”
